Cincinnati is approximately 16 miles south of West Chester, and Dayton is 34 miles to the north.

Terrain
West Chester is in an area geologically known as the "Cincinnati Arch." This area has been one of the best places on the continent for collecting fossils, due to the fact that the Miami Valley was once at the bottom of an ancient ocean. The highest elevation is 980 above sea level, in the Pisgah area. Most of the pioneers were farmers who were attracted to the beauty of the area and the quality of the land.
The township consists of 22,080 acres, or approximately 35 square miles, with 72.5% zoned for residential use, 23.0% zoned for industrial use, and 4.5% zoned for commercial use.
Population
West Chester has experienced significant growth in the last 20 years. The population has increased from 23,553 (1980 Census) to 39,703 (1990 Census). The estimated population today is approximately 56,500.
West Chester has experienced rapid growth due in particular to the development of the Interstate Road System, which connected it to the major cities of Cincinnati and Dayton. West Chester is Greater Cincinnati's 5th largest community.
Jobs
The growth of the business sector dramatically increased with the completion of a third interchange off Interstate 75 in the late 1990’s.
The development of Union Centre Boulevard has created diversity in West Chester's economy, which was once dominated by agriculture, manufacturing and distributing. More than ten colleges and universities are located within 30 miles of West Chester.
